One person was killed and others were injured on Thursday in a traffic accident in Mount Pleasant. The two vehicle wreck occurred at around 6 a.m. at the intersection of 235th Street and Goodyear Road.

A sedan driven by 20-year-old Anthony Burgess of Keokuk was southbound on Goodyear Road when it failed to stop at the stop sign and collided with an eastbound pick-up truck driven by 53-year-old George Aplara of Fairfield.

Burgess and Aplara were taken by ambulance to the Henry County Health Center. According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, 20-year-old Donald Randall of Wayland, MO, a passenger in the sedan, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Iowa State Patrol’s crash report says he was not wearing a seat belt.
