Teams continue to raise money for cancer research as Saturday’s Relay for Life of Washington County approaches. Out of the 20 relay teams, Prairie Power is currently in first place when it comes to the amount raised. The team led by Robert Freeman has collected $6,218.

Some of that money came from a fundraiser in Wellman. On Tuesday, DJ’s Casual Cafe held “Take a Bite Out of Cancer” where 25% of the day’s proceeds were donated to the 15 member team.

Washington County has raised over $40,200 for the American Cancer Society so far. Relay for Life is being held from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. in Washington’s Central Park. To see what the other teams have raised, click here.
