A new event, a summer movie series, is coming to downtown Washington starting next week. The Washington City Council approved Movies on Main Street at their meeting this week. Sarah Sadrakula, director of Main Street Washington, explained they will be showing movies over 20 years old as to not compete with the movie theater’s business but to still draw people to downtown Washington.

The first film will be Field of Dreams and will be shown Friday, July 3rd. The council expressed support for it, approving the event unanimously. The other films will be The Goonies on August 21st and Back to the Future on September 18th.
