A state department is taking part in a national campaign focused on the enforcement of boating while intoxicated laws. As part of Operation Dry Water, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources will be increasing patrols, check points, and will be administering breath tests. According to the Iowa DNR, 71 percent of Iowa’s boating fatalities in 2014 involved alcohol. Last year, the DNR and its partners issued 59 citations or warnings as part of the campaign.
