Two ranked softball teams are set to square off tonight in Wellman. The No. 8 Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks (10-6 overall) of Class 3A are set to host the No. 14 Fairfield Trojans (12-4 overall) in a pair of non-conference showdowns.

Mid-Prairie enters tonight’s game off their best offensive showing of the season, scoring 19 runs in a 19-1 victory over the Camanche Indians Tuesday evening. It marked the third win in the last five games for the Golden Hawks, and was the fifth game this season Mid-Prairie has recorded double-digit runs in a game.

Fairfield enters tonight’s non conference doubleheader after splitting a Southeast Conference doubleheader Monday evening versus Mount Pleasant. Two of the Trojans four losses this season have been outside of league play, including a 3-1 setback to Dubuque on June 5, and a 7-5 loss to West Burlington on Saturday.

First pitch of tonight’s non conference double header is set for 5:30 p.m. at Mid-Prairie High School.
