The theme of this year’s Trek Fest is “Fistful of Datas.” Not to be confused with data, Data was a character in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation.
According to Ken McCracken, president of the Riverside Area Community Club, “A Fistful of Datas” was the title of an episode that played on the title of the movie A Fistful of Dollars, so they’ve planned a few western related activities. Tom and the Tribbles will be playing folk, old time, bluegrass and patriotic music this afternoon and the golf cart rodeo begins at 3 p.m.
Other highlights include the costume contest, Enterprise Mission scavenger hunt and the Federation Games. The 31st annual Trek Fest culminates tonight with the demo derby, the screening of a Star Trek movie in Hall Park and the fireworks display.
