An informational session about the proposed preschool addition to Stewart Elementary in Washington is being held tonight. Jolisa Weidner, a librarian with the Washington Public Library, shares she approached administration after doing a program at Stewart West and then saw the students had to go to the main building in the rain for lunch. Other concerns for the building include drop off and pick up congestion, what to do in the event of severe weather and ease of transitioning to kindergarten if the students are already attached to the main building.

A special election for general obligation bonds will be held June 30th for voters in the school district. Debbie Stanton explains the bonds would cover the cost of the $2.3 million project which adds six preschool classrooms on to the existing elementary school and reconfigures the drop off location.

Tonight’s informational event will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. in Brighton, with the school board meeting immediately following. For more information about the project listen to today’s Washington Page.
