The 105th annual Brighton Whoopee Days begins this evening. Bingo at the community center and the opening of the concessions at 5 p.m. will kickoff this year’s celebration. The carnival opens at 6 and the Bill Riley Talent Show begins at 7 p.m.

Prior to the talent show, this year’s grand marshals, Merrill and Sue Lucas, will be introduced. According to Nancy Adrian with the Brighton Chamber of Commerce, Merrill and Sue have been active in the Brighton community since moving to the city around 43 years ago. She says Merrill served as Lake Darling Park Manager until retiring last year and continues to work at the park part-time. Sue, who was born in Washington and grew up in Harper, worked at Brighton Elementary School then Washington High School.

The introduction is being held on the city park stage at 6:45 p.m.
