Washington County has the fourth largest 4-H program in the state. Amy Green, 4-H and youth coordinator for the county, says this year there were 419 4-H members and 160 Clover Kids. As the fair came to a close Green said many students stopped in the Extension Office to get registration information to join the organization. The 4-H year begins in September and there are a number of groups that area students can join. There is a horse and pony club and a shooting sports club. Students in 4th through 12th grades can become members of 4-H. Those interested in joining 4-H should contact the Extension Office.
