A place for visitors to learn about the namesake of Lake Darling is being developed in Brighton. The Brighton Chamber of Commerce recently received a $2,000 Washington County Riverboat Foundation grant to purchase signage and display equipment for what’s being called the Ding Darling Visitors Center.

Chamber president Nancy Adrian says the museum inside Federation Bank will feature some of Ding Darling’s personal belongings and give visitors an idea who the conservationist was and the impact he had.

The chamber will meet with Friends of Lake Darling next month to officially name the center, begin putting plans together and discuss a possible opening date.
