The decorated senior campaign for Sigourney’s Jordan Carter ends with high recognition from the coaches of the South Iowa Cedar League. Carter, a four sport athlete for the Savages, has been chosen as a first team all-conference pitcher for her efforts during the recent softball season.

Carter was the Savages’ primary pitcher this summer, throwing 188 of Sigourney’s 232.1 innings recorded, finishing with a record of 21-9. Her 1.97 earned run average and 124 strike outs this season were second best in conference, trailing only Lynnville-Sully’s Madison Rasmusson for first in the league. Carter had the league’s best slugging percentage (.919), recorded the most doubles (30), was second in the conference in batting average (.570), and ranked third in on base percentage (.590).

During her senior season, Carter has earned first team all conference volleyball honors and was placed on the all-conference second team during the basketball season.

A trio of underclassmen highlight the Savages’ second team selections. Sophomore Kendall Streigle and freshman Autum Barthelman were both chosen as second team all-conference infielders while freshman Brooke Waechter was named to the second team all-conference squad as an outfielder.

Freshman Leah Carter was named an all-conference honorable mention.

The Savages’ 2015 season ended with a 26-12 overall record, finishing second in the SICL conference with an 18-2 mark. Sigourney was one step away from a trip to the state tournament, falling 2-1 in the Class 1A Region 5 championship game.
