The rain that flooded rivers and low-lying areas in southeast Iowa also delayed local construction projects. According to Mid-Prairie Superintendent Mark Schneider, crews digging the foundations for the Kalona and Wellman Elementary school additions are now a week behind due to the wet weather. He says the rain did not cause similar delays at the middle school, where the foundation for the Home School Assistance Program wing has already been poured. Schneider adds instead of working on the framing for the middle school addition, progress was made inside on the geothermal system that’s being installed.
