Entering the final month of the baseball season, Washington junior Tanner Renoux had nine total hits on the season. Despite winning one game in the month, the Demon designated hitter elevated his play at the plate over the last nine games of the season to put him among the top hitters on the team.

In his final 30 at bats of the season, Renoux collected 14 hits, including eight singles and six doubles, driving in 10 runs and scoring four more.

Washington baseball coach Nathan Miller says Renoux has become one of the premier hitters in the area by doing what was best for the team, “He accepted his role that he was going to be a DH so he focused on his hitting during practice,” Miller said, “It’s not like he didn’t focus on defense but he put a lot of effort into his offense.”

Renoux ends the season with a team best .379 batting average and .461 on base percentage in 66 total at bats. His seven doubles and 10 runs batted in ranked second on the team, while his 25 total hits ranks third on the squad.

During Thursday’s postseason clash against the Wiliamsburg Raiders, Renoux recorded two of Washington’s three hits and drove in the lone run in the Demons’ 8-1 setback. The Demon baseball team ended the season with a 6-20 overall record.
