The quest by the Mid-Prairie softball team (22-13) to advance in the state tournament ended last night in a 12-2 loss to Solon (38-3).

Before a large crowd, including a good crowd of Mid-Prairie fans, the Golden Hawks just couldn’t figure out Spartan pitcher Emily Ira, who struck out 17 in last night’s contest. The Golden Hawks struck first taking a two run lead in the second inning on solo home runs by Emma Troyer and Ali Naylor, but from there on it was all Solon, as the Spartans responded with twelve unanswered runs.

The Golden Hawks were lead by Emma Troyer who gathered two hits in three trips to the plate, Ali Naylor went one for two, with a home run. With the exception of the two home runs, it was another dominating pitching performance by Solon senior Emily Ira, who allowed just five hits. She struck out the side four times in the contest.

The Golden Hawks lose four seniors from this years team as it was the final game for Lexi Duwa, Ashley Sojka, Chelsea Krall and Taylor Kurtz. Pid-Prairie finished the season with an overall record of 22-13.
