Three players on this year’s Highland Huskies softball team have been recognized as some of the best in the state. The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union has named sophomore Kelsey Hora a Class 2A first team All-State selection, while senior Katie Springer and junior Cheyann Adamson were chosen to the second team All-State squad.

This is the first All-State honor for Hora. A first team all-SEISC selection in 2014 and 2015, Hora set the school record for stolen bases in a single season with 48. Hora also led the conference in runs scored (43), and total hits (48) and led her team in batting average (.505), slugging percentage (.589) and on base percentage (.557).

This is the second year Springer has been named to the all-state team, earning first team honors in 2014. A three year first team all-conference pitcher, Springer finished her final high school softball season with a Southeast Iowa Super Conference best 21-5 overall record. Her 1.13 earned run average was tops in the conference and her 165 strikeouts was second most in the league.

This is the second year Adamson has been named to the All-State team as well, being on the first team in 2014. Adamson, a first team all-conference infielder in 2014 and 2015, led the Huskies in triples, was second on the team in batting average (.413), doubles (8), and runs batted in (22).

Highland ended the 2015 season with a 23-6 overall record.
