Mid-Prairie School District is continuing its search for an elementary Chinese instructor. Superintendent Mark Schneider says if they aren’t able to find a someone before school starts, they’ll stop the program at the district’s three elementary schools for the year, but continue it at the middle school, where they have the staff needed. Schneider explains the problem is there aren’t many qualified Chinese teachers out there, noting that the few they had apply ran into issues with certification. He adds there are students at the University of Iowa who will qualify for the position once they graduate next year.
