In one month, business owners and volunteers will head to the Iowa State Fair to man the Kalona booth. The Kalona Chamber of Commerce has promoted the city for decades at the fair, and now operates a booth out of the Varied Industries Building where Kalona-made products are sold. Among the goods that have been popular with fairgoers in years past, there will be some new additions. According to chamber director Renae Pickard, Kalona Creamery will be selling milk and the new owner of the Kalona Bakery, Jonathan Troyer, is working on new items to offer at the Kalona booth. Chamber members able to help at the booth August 14th through August 22nd are encouraged to call the chamber office at 656-2660. The state fair begins August 13th.
