Starting Monday part of Vine Avenue, or W64, will be closed to traffic for a bridge replacement project. According to the Washington County Engineer’s Office, the road will be closed from 130th Street to 135th Street until late fall. This stretch of road is about four miles north of Highland High School. Crews from Iowa Bridge and Culvert of Washington will be replacing a narrow steel I-beam bridge with a twin reinforced concrete box culvert and about 300 feet of pavement. The replacement will eliminate the need to post a weight restriction. The cost of the project is $362,667.68 and the county is using farm to market construction dollars to pay for it. Traffic will be detoured using Highway 22, Highway 218 and G26, or 175th Street.
