Rotation was reported as a thunderstorm made its way through southeast Iowa last night. A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Washington County at approximately 6:45 and ended an hour later. During KCII’s Severe Weather Action Team coverage, towns from Sigourney to Riverside saw heavy downpours and lightning.

According to Washington and Keokuk County Emergency Management Coordinator Larry Smith, a weather spotter reported seeing mild rotation north of Richland and the weather service reported seeing on and off rotation on the radar.

Less than a tenth of an inch of rain fell in downtown Washington during the storm.
