The Sigourney Savages softball team is one step away from a trip to Fort Dodge. The Savages welcomed their South Iowa Cedar League foes the North Mahaska Warhawks Friday evening for a Class 1A Region 5 semfinal clash. A four run fifth inning propelled the Savages past the Warhawks, 5-2.

Senior Jordan Carter pitched a complete game, allowing two runs, neither earned, on five hits, walking no one and striking out three for her 21st victory of the season. Carter provided run support for herself, going two for three at the plate with a double, a triple, driving in three runs and scoring another.

Sigourney’s winning streak was extended to five games, improve the Savages record to 26-11. The Savages advance to face the No. 2 New London Tigers on Monday evening in Ottumwa with the winner advancing to the Class 1A state tournament.
