Lightning, thunderstorms and heavy rain swept across the area yesterday. According to AccuWeather, approximately two inches of rain fell in Washington Thursday. Lightning directly struck the Crawfordsville repeater, and representatives were working on the internet outage as well at approximately 9:45 p.m.

A heat advisory is in effect for Washington County and the surrounding area from 1 p.m. this afternoon to 7 p.m. Saturday evening. Heat index values are forecast up to 105 degrees with temperatures in the lower 90s and dewpoints in the mid-70s. Listeners are reminded to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room if possible and check on relatives and neighbors, especially the elderly. Those seeking air conditioning may consider visiting a local library, community center or shopping center.
