Swimming is not advised at Lake Darling at this time. Toxic blue-green algae blooms have been reported. Blue-green algae are microscopic organisms and some produce toxins that could be harmful to people and animals when exposed to large quantities. According to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources’ beach monitoring report, 14 swimming advisories have been posted across the state.

Also, at Lake Darling the last E. coli sample taken was 660, while the mean is 171. KCII News will bring you more information as it becomes official.
