Ten area non-profit organizations each recently received a $1,000 check. The newly opened Hills Bank and Trust branch in Washington held a contest where community members could stop in and vote for their favorite non-profits. The top 10 vote getters received $1,000 grants.

The grant recipients include: Crooked Creek Christian Camp, Hospice of Washington County, Kids Corral Inc., Lake Darling Youth Center, OneEighty Ministries, United Presbyterian Home, the Washington auditorium project, Washington Concert Association, Washington County Enrichment Founcation and the Washington Public Library.

Debbie Stanton, director of the library, states they will use the funds to bring in special programs during the school year.
