With a vote of 721 to 319, the Washington Community School District’s bond measure for a new preschool addition to Stewart Elementary School passed last night. As heard on KCII live from the Washington County Courthouse, 69 percent of the ballots cast were in favor of the $2.3 million measure. Jolisa Weidner who has been working on the campaign to support the project said she is excited and had been working toward this since October.
Stewart Elementary School principal Adam Miller was also excited for his students and said he values the school’s relationship with the students, their parents and the community. He added that the preschool staff is also looking forward to this project.
The project will add six preschool classrooms, demolish the old Stewart West building, and create a new drop off and pick up location for students.
