A recently graduated Washington Demon football player has been invited to play in the state’s annual All-Star game. Daryn Sebelius is among 46 players selected to the Iowa Shrine Bowl All-Star Game’s South Squad.

Sebelius finished his senior season second in Class 3A in total yards (2959) and total touchdowns (33). The 2015 graduate committed to Iowa Central Community College in February, and is expected to compete for the Triton’s starting quarterback position this fall.

Sebelius is the first Demon selected to the Shrine Bowl since Brock Kimbal was a member of  the South Squad during the 2012 game. The South team has dominated the recent games, winning the last four contests by an average margin of 20 points per game.

The Iowa Shrine Bowl All-Star Football game has been a yearly event since 1973. The 43rd Annual Shrine Bowl will be played on Saturday July 25 at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls.
