Films part of a collection a Washington County couple presented across the United States more than a century ago are in our nation’s capitol. Michael Zahs, a local historian and the man who discovered Frank and Indiana Brinton’s collection while helping clear out a local basement, is in Washington, D.C. for the National Flute Association’s annual convention. He’ll narrate while Red Cedar Chamber Music performs pieces written by Harvey Sollberger, who is this year’s recipient of the association’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Their presentation, being held this afternoon, will feature four silent films from the collection.

To learn more about the tour and the world premieres that took place at the Ainsworth Opera House in March, listen to our conversation with Zahs during today’s In Touch with Southeast Iowa and follow the links below for our In Touch series dealing with the film collection.
