Community members have a chance to help out a local non-profit today. English River Outfitters is holding a maintenance day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. where members of the public can stop by for as long as they can to get the grounds located next to Sockum Ridge Park ready for the fall hunting season and winter.

According to founder and president Chuck Geertz, they will be mowing, putting finishing touches on their new log cabin and working on their trails.

English River Outfitters helps veterans dealing with physical and mental injuries through outdoor activities at their Washington County location and in other parts of the country. Next week, Geertz is taking a group of veterans to Wisconsin for a fly fishing trip.
