Although the Columbus football team lost it’s all-time leading receiver to graduation, they do return some experience on offense.

Wildcat coach Jeff Martin has the task of replacing Chase Fink, who averaged over 16 yards per catch last season. While it was a big loss for the Columbus offense, they do return their quarterback Carter Colby. The junior completed over 50 percent of his passes last year and averaged nearly 14 yards per completion. Martin says Colby has attended a couple of football camps over the summer months which should improve his game even more.

The Wildcat rushing game should be strong with the return of leading rusher Mauricio Ramirez. The senior ran for over 1,200 yards last season, averaging over six yards per carry while scoring 12 touchdowns. He also caught 15 passes for a ten yard per catch average. Martin is also expecting help in the receiving game from Devon Henry and Dalton Bright.

Columbus, who was 3-6 last year, opens the season August 28th with a trip to WACO.
