Kalona’s B Avenue project can begin now that a contractor has been selected. LL Pelling’s bid of just over $169,000 was selected at Monday’s city council meeting. The bid for the mill and overlay from Highway 1 to 4th Street came in under the initial estimate of $175,000. According to Mayor Ken Herington, they don’t have an official start date for construction, but they expect work will get underway relatively soon.
