Local farmers who want to take advantage of certain conservation practices can receive financial help. The Washington County Soil and Water Conservation District has a limited amount of funding to offer a cost share program to producers who want to try practices such as cover crops, no-till or strip tilling this fall. For cover crops, those who are first-time users can get $25 per acre. Those who already plant cover crops may be eligible for $15 per acre. Limit is 160 acres per producer. To apply or learn more, call the district office at 653-6654.
