A Washington County fundraiser is entering its 10th year. The Courage Ride was started by Tom and Jackie Bailey in honor of their son who died of Sarcoma, a type of cancer.

Nearly every dollar raised through tomorrow’s bike ride will go toward sarcoma research at the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. Marty Bunge, one of the organizers, says $300,000 has been raised since 2005, adding they hope to raise $50,000 this year. He estimates around 500 cyclists will take part.

Participants will be able to choose from a variety of routes on paved and gravel roads, ranging from 16 to 110 miles in length. Registration begins at 6 a.m. tomorrow at Iowa Mennonite School. For more information, listen to today’s In Touch with Southeast Iowa and visit the Courage Ride’s website.
