With the first game of the season just one week away, the Washington Demon football team will hit the road for their final regular season tune up. The Demons are set to travel to Eddyville this evening to battle the Eddyville-Blakesburg Rockets.

This marks the fourth different scrimmage Washington has participated in this summer. The Demons have already lined up against Alburnett, Ottumwa, and Central Lee during the Southeast Iowa Football Camp Washington hosted at the end of the July.

The Rockets are the third playoff team the Demons have scrimmaged this summer. Eddyville-Blakesburg finished last season 5-5 overall, losing to Panorama the first round of the playoffs 42-18.

Washington returns five offensive and five defensive starters off last year’s 8-4 team. The Demons’ regular season opener is set for next Friday, August 28, in Pella against the defending Class 3A champions the Little Dutch.
