The percentage of Iowa experiencing drought conditions was cut in half from last week to this week. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor’s weekly report, at this time six percent of Iowa is abnormally dry, while last week nearly 14 percent was in the same category. About a quarter of a percent is still in moderate drought. All of the drought conditions are in the northeast part of the state.

Overall, the Midwest section of the country is experiencing low rates of drought, with 1.28 percent in moderate drought and 9.47 percent abnormally dry.
