Sixteen states are taking part in an enforcement campaign this weekend on two major interstates in Iowa. The Iowa State Patrol is heading up the traffic safety challenge involving 16 other states I-35 and I-80 pass through. State troopers will be stepping up enforcement of all traffic laws, from impaired driving to seatbelt usage.

The goal of the campaign is to reduce the number of crashes involving fatalities and serious injuries. August is the deadliest month on Interstate 80 and one of the deadliest on 35.

Over 200 people have died in crashes so far this month in Iowa, compared to 193 at this time last year.
