He has yet to start his third year at Highland Community High School, but Drew West has already garnered interest from Division I wrestling programs across the nation. The soon to be junior has suffered only one loss in 100 high school matches, claiming as a state championship in the 106 pound weight class in 2014 and finished in third place last season in the 113 pound weight class.

West, this week’s Hedge Above Lawncare Athlete of the Week, says he can’t officially be recruited by any school until after September 1, but revealed he has drawn interest from Division I schools such as Iowa State University and North Dakota State University.

He has some milestone goals set for his third season as a Huskies wrestler, “I want to win a state title, wrestle in 50 or more, so I can try for my 150th win before the end of my junior year.”
