Washington County 4-H members brought home awards in the State Fair’s annual awardrobe clothing event. Twenty-one students received top awards at the event held at the Memorial Union at Iowa State University. Washington County 4-H’ers who earned Top 10 Percent Awards in the clothing event include Kaitlin Hora (clothing selection) and Darren Rickheim-Hiller ($15 challenge). The event is held to showcase students’ design and creativity skills, as well as production knowledge.

Central Iowa Sewing Guild
Hannah Jorgensen, Adair County, and Cari Klein, Sioux County, were recognized for exhibiting outstanding construction skills in the fashion revue category. The recognition includes a certificate and a $25 cash award sponsored by the Central Iowa Sewing Guild.

On-Trend Award
Nicole Lowe, Benton County, and Gabbi Struchen, Hamilton County, received the On-Trend Award for creating a garment that incorporates this year’s fashion trends. Iowa State University’s Apparel, Merchandising and Design Program sponsored the $25 gift card award and certificate.
Top 3 Percent
Emilie Burgan, Warren County, earned special recognition for ranking in the top 3 percent of Awardrobe Clothing Event participants and expressing an interest in furthering her education in the apparel, merchandising and design; event management or hospitality management programs at Iowa State University. The Department of Apparel, Events and Hospitality Management sponsored the $500 scholarship award and certificate.
