Clear Creek Amana co-head coach Matt Hughes says Drake Brezina from the Iowa Mennonite School will start at quarterback for his team this season. Brezina has shown tremendous leadership for his team. The Clipper coach says he is excited to see what the IMS junior can do with the offense this season. Hughes said Brezina will also be a back up at the outside linebacker position on defense, but they would like him to concentrate more on leading the offense.

Clear Creek Amana lost their starting quarterback from last year to graduation. Nile Rourke led the Clippers to a 7-3 record last season.

Another IMS student will also get playing time with the Clear Creek Amana varsity squad. Junior Justin Litwiller will play on special teams along with some action on the offensive line and at a linebacker spot on defense. There are three other younger IMS students active with the Clear Creek Amana football program.

Since IMS doesn’t offer football as a varsity sport, their students play with the Clear Creek Amana squad thanks to an agreement between the schools. The Clippers open the season at home Friday night as they play host to Center Point-Urbana.
