Following action from the Washington City Council, staff is developing an ordinance for consideration that would ban tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, from Central Park. Don Pfeiffer with the city’s park board explained they are supportive of the measure as they have problems with cigarette butts and second hand smoke in the park currently.

Councilman Russ Zieglowsky stated he’d like to see the ban in all of the city’s parks.

Signs will have to be placed at each entrance to the park indicating the tobacco free area. The council approved the measure unanimously.
