The seniors of the River Valley Conference and the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North came together for a pair of all-star softball games last night in Wilton. The ninth annual senior all-star game featured several area athletes on the SEISC North squad. The two teams split the pair of games, the SEISC North winning game one 7-6 and the RVC winning game two 7-6 in eight innings.

The SEISC North all-stars overcame two one-run deficits in the later innings to prevail in game one. Trailing 5-4 in the fifth inning, a pair of area athletes helped the SEISC North team gain an advantage. Columbus Community’s Claire Hamilton tied the game at 5-5 on an RBI single in the top half of the fifth inning. After the RVC all-stars took a 6-5 lead in the sixth inning, Highland’s Katie Chalupa hit a two RBI single for a 7-6 SEISC North all-stars advantage. A scoreless bottom of the seventh made the final score of game one 7-6.

Game two was a pitcher’s duel through four innings, before the RVC all-stars managed to score three runs in the top of the fifth inning for a 3-0 lead. An inning and a half later the SEISC North seniors responded with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to capture the lead, 4-3. After the RVC conference regained the lead with two runs in the top of the seventh inning, Highland’s Courtnee Hahn tied the game at 5 on an RBI single to help push the game into extra innings. Two more runs by the RVC all-stars in the top of the eighth inning pushed the lead to 7-5. The SEISC North all-stars were able to score one with the bottom of the eighth, but fell one run short, 7-6.

The SEISC North seniors featured 13 area athletes including seven from Highland, five from Wapello, and one from Columbus Community. Mid-Prairie’s Lexi Duwa participated in the all-star game for the RVC.

The SEISC North all-star roster included: Josie Carpenter (Wapello; third base), Katie Chalupa (Highland; right field), Morgan Craig (Highland; first base), Courtnee Hahn (Highland; catcher), Ashley Hahnbaum (Wapello; shortstop), Claire Hamilton (Columbus; catcher), Lauren Hargrave (Louisa-Muscatine; first base), Kristen Keen (Wapello; right field), Allison Klenk (Wapello; pitcher), Brooke Kreiss (Highland; left field), Bridget Murphy (Highland; shortstop), Sydney Reid (Wapello; catcher), Lexi Reimers (Louisa-Muscatine; shortstop), Katie Springer (Highland; pitcher), and Bailey Walsh (Highland; designated hitter).

The RVC all-stars featured: Grace Austin (Wilton; outfielder), Jordan Bendixen (North Cedar; pitcher), Kori Bohlken (Monticello; first base), Olivia Brown (North Cedar; first base) Bailey Claussen (NE Gooselake; pitcher), Lexi Duwa (Mid-Prairie; outfielder), Morgen Goedken (IC Regina; catcher), Tierra Hildebrandt (NE Gooselake; second base), Jordan Nissen (Camanche; shortstop), Maddie Parker (Camanche; first base), Baylie Parson (NE Gooselake; catcher), Kayla Phelps (Tipton; outfielder), Courtney Ralfs (Durant; third base), Chole Rea (Cascade; outfielder), Courtney Stoll (NE Gooselake; pitcher/first base), Kelsey Sexton (Camanche; pitcher), and Lexi Weber (Cascade; outfielder).
