A ribbon cutting for a new Washington County Bridge is being held tomorrow. Iowa Department of Transportation Field Services Coordinator Jason Huddle says the Skunk River Bridge will be open by noon.

The project started in January and at that time an October finish was anticipated for the $5.1 million bridge replacement. Huddle attributes the early opening of the Highway 1 bridge between Washington and Brighton to a mild spring.

Following the ribbon cutting organized by the Washington and Brighton chambers of commerce, fire trucks, tractors and a school bus will lead a convoy across the bridge. Those who attend the event scheduled for 9 a.m. are asked to park in a line along the highway.
