While parts of Iowa are dry at this time, southeast Iowa remains free of drought conditions. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, 13.6 percent of Iowa is abnormally dry and less than half a percent is in moderate drought. The moderate drought section is in Dubuque County along the Wisconsin border. Nearly 6.5 percent of Wisconsin is in moderate drought.

The drought continues in California with 46 percent of the state in exceptional drought, the highest level, and 71 percent in extreme drought.
