The Washington County Board of Supervisors approved an application for $500,000 to improve Riverside Road. Washington County Engineer Jacob Thorius explained his office is seeking the funds from the Iowa Department of Transportation traffic safety funds. If granted, the funds will help pave shoulders and add rumble strips along Riverside Road from G36 to G26. The road will also have an overlay and be widened from 20 feet to 24 feet. Thorius explained the grant comes from a competitive statewide pool.

Riverside Road is in the county’s five year plan and will likely be done in three phases. It will not be announced until December if the grant is awarded.
