The Washington school board discussed student population at their meeting. New student registration was held Tuesday and superintendent Jeff Dicks announced 57 new students registered for the district. He added it is a good sign, but the official date to look at student population is October 1st. He advised it is a transient society and the enrollment can fluctuate between now and then.

Also, looking ahead, there are three large classes of students in a row and the district will need to start preparing now for the budget when those classes graduate. The current 8th grade class has 144 students, there are 145 freshmen and 156 sophomores. In May, 113 students graduated from Washington High School.
