The Winfield-Mt. Union volleyball team looks to continue moving forward after producing 24 wins last year.

To accomplish the goal, head Coach Dave Pieart will have to overcome the loss to graduation of three seniors from last year’s team. Pieart says the three, Nicole Escher, Lou Kreiger-Coble and Sam Jamison, will be difficult to replace from last year’s squad that finished 24-10.

Pieart does have some experience back this year, with 11 returning players, including five starters. The Wolves’ coach says this year’s team will have quite a bit of experience returning in the passing positions. To repeat last year’s success he says he’ll be looking for leadership from his veteran players.

Pieart says this year to be successful in the conference they will once again have to get past Mediapolis, who the Wolves fell to twice last season.. Winfield-Mt. Union will open the season on August 27th, at home in a triangular with West Burlington and Pekin, before heading to the West Branch tournament on August 29th.
