In his return to the gridiron, Iowa Mennonite School junior Drake Brezina had arguably his best performance of the season for the Clear Creek-Amana football team (2-3 overall; 2-1 Class 3A District 5).

After sitting out during the Clippers’ 27-14 week four victory over Fort Madison Bloodhounds, Brezina returned to lead Clear-Creek-Amana rushing attack in a 17-10 victory Friday in Keokuk. Brezina rushed for a game-high 178 yards on 21 carries, an average of 8.5 yards per carry. He nearly doubled his rushing yard total for the season, entering the week with 201 yards. He still is in search of his first touchdown of the season, rushing the ball 55 times this season without making it into the endzone.

Clear Creek-Amana has now won two straight district football games since dropping their district opener to the Washington Demons (4-1 overall: 2-0 Class 3A District 5), 28-7, on September 11.

The Clippers return to the gridiron tomorrow in Tiffin, hosting the Mount Pleasant Panthers (0-5 overall: 0-2 Class 3A District 5) in a district battle. The Clippers won last years meeting, 44-6, at Evans Field in Mount Pleasant. Kickoff is set 7:30 p.m. at Clear Creek-Amana High School.
