Iowa’s corn crop is about three days ahead of last year, but three days behind the five-year average with 95 percent of corn in the dough stage or beyond and 57 percent dented or beyond. In southeast Iowa 89 percent of corn is in the dough stage and 55 percent is dented. Across the state 26 percent of corn is rated excellent, 55 percent is good and 15 percent is fair. According to the Iowa Crop Progress and Condition report, saturated fields and heavy rains limited fieldwork last week across the state to 3.9 days.
