The biggest regular season victory of the Garrison Carter era was earned last night for the Washington Demon football team (4-1 overall; 2-0 Class 3A District 4) at Case Field.  The Demons entered the halfway point of the season Friday, hosting the Solon Spartans (2-3 overall; 1-1 Class 3A District 4). After a scoreless quarter and a half, Washington gained a lead and never relinquished it in a 28-14 triumph.

The Demons offense scored their first touchdown with 5:48 remaining in the first half, a one yard run by sophomore quarterback Ryan Reighard. A successful extra point attempt by junior Kyle Anderson gave Washington a 7-0 advantage, which the Demons took into the locker room.

Washington’s second touchdown came halfway through the third quarter, a one yard touchdown run by senior Jack Giardino. The extra point was good, helping extend Washington’s lead to 14-0. Solon’s most notable touchdown came less than a minute later, a 58-yard touchdown pass from Blaze Griffis to Nate Christensen, pulling the Spartans within a touchdown, 14-7.

The Demons advantage grew in the fourth quarter thanks to a pair of rushing touchdowns by Reighard.
