Southeast Iowa residents with an interest in butterflies are invited to take part in an event Thursday.

Louisa County Conservation and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service are co-sponsoring an effort to catch and tag Monarch butterflies. The first time event will make an effort to catch and tag the butterflies as they begin their annual migration to a warmer climate for the winter. Those interested are urged to wear jeans and closed toe shoes to the activity.

Everything gets underway at 6 p.m. on Thursday. The activity will be held at the Port Louisa National Wildlife Refuge. For more information, or directions, you can call the Louisa County Conservation office at 319-523-8381.
