The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk football team opens up the home portion of their schedule tonight when they host the Clear Creek Amana Clippers.

The Golden Hawks were dominant in their first outing of the year at Durant last Friday, routing the Wildcats 54-22. The Mid-Prairie effort last week featured more than 400 total yards, 361 of which came on the ground, and a stretch of the contest where the Hawks scored 42 points in a row.

Mid-Prairie’s opponent tonight, Clear Creek Amana enters play with an 0-1 record after a 17-10 loss to a quality Center Point Urbana team last week. In that game CCA amassed 239 yards of total offense, 100 through the air between quarterbacks Drake Brezina and Robby Swails. Brezina led the ground attack with 66 yards on 10 carries. The Clippers were their own worst enemy Friday night, with four turnovers against the Stormin’ Pointers.

Last season when the Hawks met the Clippers, Clear Creek Amana came away with a 40-6 win in Tiffin. The Hawks were held to just 79 yards of total offense and threw a pair of interceptions, while the Clippers racked up 333 yards on the night.
