The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk volleyball team opened the River Valley Conference schedule with a win over the Wilton Beavers at Tim Grady Gymnasium Thursday.

It took all five games but Mid-Prairie was able to stave off a late Wilton rally to take the match by scores of 25-18, 22-25, 25-20, 20-25 and 16-14. Slow starts plagued Mid-Prairie in games two, four and five, but in the deciding game the Hawks rallied from a five point deficit late to get the win.

Mid-Prairie was led on the night by Jaedynn Evans with 14 kills and 25 digs. Clarice Murphy added 17 assists. The Golden Hawks are now 4-0 on the season and will next be in action Tuesday when they travel to Louisa-Muscatine.
